When perfectionism keeps you stuck

August 2026 · 1 min read

Perfectionism often looks like ambition from the outside. On the inside, it can feel like a brake pedal you never fully release—waiting until every condition is right before you begin.

Done enough is still progress

Try setting a “good enough” bar before you start a task. Decide what 70% looks like, then stop when you reach it. You can always refine later—after your nervous system has proof that unfinished does not equal unsafe.

Courage often looks like shipping the imperfect draft.

If perfectionism shows up in relationships too—needing the perfect words before you speak—therapy can help you practice imperfect honesty in safer doses.
